For 20 years, the Southlake YMCA served 4,900 households in the Crown Point area. In 2014, the YMCA was looking to expand due to increased membership and programming needs. In 2017, the $35 million dollar expansion and renovation was set in motion.
Tonn and Blank was selected in help the YMCA build a destination Y to expand the current programming and create new programming to support their mission of developing healthy spirit, mind and body for all. The project included the transformation of nearly 40,000 square feet of existing space and 80,000 square foot of new Y.
Keeping the YMCA up and running during the renovation and expansion was important to this vital community service. Tonn and Blank worked with the YMCA to understand their schedule, daily activities, and challenges so that a comprehensive site logistics plan could be developed. This allowed for the project to stay on schedule and budget but most importantly kept the YMCA members, preschool/daycare students, and the staff safe throughout the duration of the project.
