The Deep River Waterpark is the first of its kind to be developed and built in Northwest Indiana. This 25-acre, 50,000sqft park was divided into three phases, all with an accelerated timeline of Labor Day to Memorial to complete each phase.
Building a waterpark presents a unique set of challenges due to the complexity of the project, the specialized requirements, and the need to balance safety, functionality, and aesthetics. Proper water management is essential for a waterpark’s functionality. This includes designing an efficient water supply and drainage system to handle the vast amounts of water required for pools, slides, and other attractions.
Functioning as the general contractor for Phase I, the design/build team for Phase II, and the construction manager for Phase III, Tonn and Blank was able to deliver a smooth, seamless construction process through-out the three-phased project for Lake County Parks. The project was so successful, Tonn and Blank has completed multiple additions and renovations to Deep River, including the renovation of the Storm Attraction Tower in 2014. In 2017, our team added a $2.7 million slide. The Kraken is a six-lane braided mat slide that can be enjoyed individually or for competitive racing. In 2019 we installed the new north slide tower.
