Crossroads YMCA

Tonn and Blank was selected in 2021 to help the Crossroads YMCA achieve their vision. The project included the transformation of 82,000 square feet of existing space. Keeping the Y up and running during the renovation and addition was important to this vital community service. Tonn and Blank worked with the Crossroads YMCA team to understand their schedule, daily activities, and challenges so that a comprehensive site logistics plan could be developed. This allowed for the project to stay on schedule but most importantly kept the facility members and the staff safe throughout the duration of the project.

The overall scope of the project consisted of taking the existing building and doing a total facelift in about 12 days. The facelift consisted of new floors, new ceilings, paint, millwork, building walls for the new e-gym, floors in the main gym, gymnastics equipment. Considering the condensed schedule, this required a massive coordination effort between YMCA staff, construction crews, and the architect in order to seamlessly deliver the project on time.

Our team renovated the front entrance, making it bright and vibrant. We created a new Kid Zone, new flooring for gym, and new gymnastic center. We repurposed some existing spaces for training and cardio. This facility has really come alive with this renovation. We are so excited to deliver these services to the community of Lake County, Indiana.
